For High Tech High Foundation’s FUTURE FWD Gala, the goal was to create an invitation that did more than announce an event. It needed to reflect the organization’s vision, inspire donors, and make recipients feel like they were already part of something bigger.

Working with designer Sarah Poore, High Tech High Foundation transformed the invitation into an interactive experience where the physical act of opening the piece became part of the story.

When the Design Becomes the Message

The inspiration for the invitation came from the High Tech High logo and its geometric structure. Instead of simply incorporating the logo visually, the design translated those shapes into a rolling knot fold that creates movement and discovery as each panel is opened.

The unfolding motion was intentional and directly connected to the FUTURE FWD theme. The message reveals itself step by step:

• “Imagine what could unfold” introduces possibility.
• “Open what’s possible” connects that possibility to the donor.
• “Shape a brighter future together” reinforces the collective impact created through engagement.

The recipient is not just reading the message, they are physically participating in it. Each fold reveals another layer of the story, symbolizing how opportunities expand when people come together.

The Power of Paper and Finishing

The materials were carefully selected to reinforce the feeling of possibility and innovation. The pearlized surface of the paper creates a subtle reflective quality that shifts with the light, adding dimension and elegance to the experience.

A spot gloss UV enhancement was used to highlight key design elements and create contrast between the smooth gloss finish and the soft shimmer of the paper.

Together, the structure, paper choice, and finishing techniques elevated the invitation from a printed piece into a memorable experience.

A Collaborative Approach to Creative Print

Complex specialty projects require close collaboration between the designer and print partner. Throughout production, Neyenesch worked with Sarah Poore and the High Tech High Foundation team to preserve the creative vision while providing solutions to bring the concept to life.
